What to write about in College Supplemental Essays
The supplemental Bowdoin College essays are out for the 2013-2014 college admissions cycle and we’ve got them for you. The first prompt, required of all applicants to Bowdoin College, reads: “Bowdoin students and alumni often cite world-class faculty and opportunities for intellectual engagement, the College’s commitment to the Common Good, and the special quality of life on the coast of Maine as important aspects of the Bowdoin experience. Reflecting on your own interests and experiences, please comment on ONE of the following: A) Intellectual engagement; B) The Common Good; C) Connection to place.” This essay prompt, it should be noted, is no different from previous years. This particular college essay must be 250 words at most.

The second essay prompt reads: “How did you first learn about Bowdoin?” While this essay length has not yet been confirmed for the 2013-2014 college admissions cycle, it will likely be 150 characters at most. For the private liberal arts college founded in June of 1794, these are all of the supplemental essays (not too bad, eh?). The fact that Bowdoin’s supplemental essays are relatively easy (especially as compared to, say, the University of Chicago), the college is encouraging students to apply.
